What is the weather like with you lately?
No, not a post about climate science.
It's about how we are already influencing the systems we are a part of, and the other way around!
How we are on the inside can create an emotional climate around us.. so, Reflect for a moment:
What is the weather you've been creating for others?
Has it helped them to do their work well and learn as they go?
Has it inspired and engaged them further to be part of the team and to stay in the organisation as they progress in their careers?
When our emotions are pushed down or aside, seen as unhelpful or irrelevant, they tend to go a bit wild.
Popping up unhelpfully or leaking out at the sides, around the good work we are trying to do, and that can create confusion and tension in others. And keeping it all inside takes an unnecessary toll.
A coaching relationship is an appropriate space to explore what emotions are coming up and process feelings for the intelligence they hold.
If you are not in the habit of doing this, it can be challenging, but worthwhile for the leadership learning you gain.
